IBO Player Setup Guide Canada 2026 — Complete Tutorial for All Devices

IBO Player is the top recommended IPTV app for Canadian subscribers. This complete setup guide covers Firestick, Smart TV, iPhone, Android, and more — with step-by-step instructions.

IBO Player is the most recommended IPTV app for OntarioIPTV.ca subscribers in Canada. It is free, available on every major device, and handles the full channel lineup — HD, 4K, EPG guide, and catch-up — without requiring a separate paid subscription. This guide covers complete setup for every supported device.

What you need before setting up IBO Player

  • An active OntarioIPTV.ca subscription — get one here or start with a free trial
  • Your M3U playlist URL (sent by email after subscribing)
  • Your EPG guide URL (also in the welcome email)
  • A compatible device — Firestick, Smart TV, Android TV, iPhone, iPad, Android phone, or tablet
  • A stable internet connection — at least 25 Mbps for HD, 50 Mbps for 4K

IBO Player setup on Firestick (recommended device)

  1. Enable apps from unknown sources: Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → turn on "Apps from Unknown Sources." This is required to install IBO Player from the Amazon App Store on older Firestick models.
  2. Find IBO Player: From the Firestick home screen, use the search icon and type "IBO Player." Select it from the results.
  3. Install: Click Download or Get. Wait for installation to complete.
  4. Open IBO Player: Launch the app from your app library.
  5. Add your playlist: Select "Add Playlist" or "Add M3U." Enter your M3U URL from the OntarioIPTV.ca welcome email exactly as provided.
  6. Add EPG: In settings, find the EPG or Guide section and paste your EPG URL. The guide loads current and upcoming program schedules for all channels.
  7. Browse and watch: Channels are organized by category — Canadian Sports, English Entertainment, French, International, and more. Select any channel to start streaming.

Tip for Firestick users: Connect your Firestick via ethernet using an ethernet adapter (available for under $15 on Amazon) for the most stable 4K streaming experience.

IBO Player setup on Samsung Smart TV

  1. Open the Samsung Smart Hub and go to the Apps section.
  2. Search for "IBO Player" in the search bar.
  3. Install IBO Player from the Samsung App Store (no sideloading required).
  4. Launch IBO Player and select "Add New Playlist."
  5. Enter your M3U URL using the on-screen keyboard. Take care to enter it exactly — no extra spaces.
  6. Add your EPG URL in the EPG settings section.
  7. Save and wait for channels to load. This takes 30–60 seconds on the first run.

IBO Player setup on LG Smart TV

  1. Open the LG Content Store from the home screen.
  2. Search for "IBO Player" — it is available natively in the LG store on most recent models.
  3. Install and launch the app.
  4. Follow the same playlist and EPG steps as the Samsung setup above.

Note for older LG TVs: If IBO Player is not available in your LG Content Store, use Hot Player instead — it has broader LG Smart TV compatibility. See our IPTV app comparison guide for details.

IBO Player setup on iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the App Store and search for "IBO Player."
  2. Download and install the free app.
  3. Open IBO Player. Tap the menu icon (top left) and select "Add Playlist."
  4. Choose "M3U URL" and paste your playlist URL from the welcome email.
  5. Tap "Add EPG" and paste your EPG URL.
  6. Tap Save. Channels load within 30 seconds.

IBO Player on iPhone and iPad supports Picture-in-Picture — you can watch a channel in a floating window while using other apps.

IBO Player setup on Android phone or tablet

  1. Open the Google Play Store and search for "IBO Player."
  2. Install the free app.
  3. Launch IBO Player and tap the plus (+) icon to add a playlist.
  4. Select "M3U URL" and paste your OntarioIPTV.ca M3U URL.
  5. In Settings → EPG, paste your EPG guide URL.
  6. Save — channels load automatically.

IBO Player setup on Android TV box

  1. Open Google Play on your Android TV box and install IBO Player.
  2. Launch the app and navigate to Add Playlist.
  3. Use a USB keyboard or your phone as a remote (via the Android TV remote app) to enter the M3U URL.
  4. Add your EPG URL in the guide settings.
  5. Channels load and organize automatically by category.

Getting the best picture quality in IBO Player

  • 4K channels: Look for channels labelled "4K" or "UHD" in the channel guide. Ensure your device and TV both support 4K playback.
  • Buffering fix: Switch from Wi-Fi to a wired ethernet connection if possible. If buffering occurs on Wi-Fi, try moving your router closer or using a Wi-Fi extender.
  • EPG not loading: Double-check the EPG URL was entered correctly. In IBO Player settings, try refreshing the EPG manually.
  • Channels not showing: If the channel list appears empty, delete and re-add your M3U playlist URL. Contact support if the issue persists.
